An Interesting Visitor

Hmmmmm how to get noticed in the city???  Well, if you're a big old hawk, it's not hard.  This fellow created quite a lot of commotion today by landing on my neighbor's lawn and devouring a pigeon.  Police arrived, animal control personnel and various city vehicles.  Personally I think he performed a community service.  Still, it's not every day you see one of these in the city.

My Dream Crushed??

Those who know me know that I've been dreaming of one thing for this coming summer break.  I want to buy a hammock and lie there reading all summer ... well not seriously, but the thought of relaxing is like an elixir for me and I wouldn't mind doing some time in my hammock.

But then this happened ......

This gi-normous tree branch fell off of our huge oak tree (taking my clothesline with it) right on the very spot that I wanted to put my hammock!!  That would have hurt.  I may still spend my summer in the hammock, I'll just have to wear a helmet.

That's right ... fresh bamboo!  When it was first given to me, it didn't look like something that I would want to eat ... in fact I thought that it resembled a rhinoceros horn ... but I decided to be daring and give it a try.  How bad could it be ... panda's thrive on it, right?!  The family has pronounced it good.  It doesn't add much flavor but it does add a nice texture and I'm proud that we all tried something new.

Two of My Boys

Steve and I had the privilege of spending the weekend alone with Anthony last Saturday and Sunday.  I think it's the first time that we've been alone with him in 21 years!  To say that we fought over who would sit next to him would be an exaggeration ... but only slightly!

Why Blog?

Why not?  Everyone's doing it.  Everyone has something to say.  Shouldn't I?  Or would it be best to employ the old adage "better to remain silent and appear a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt"  No, I think I'll jump on the blogger bandwagon and attempt to find something witty or informative or somewhat amusing to share with the world.  Or my world.  If nothing else perhaps this will reduce the number of e-mails that I have to write .... and never get around to writing.
